      PIONEERING WORKS IN RHEUMATOLOGY

• First rheumatologist in the country to use imaging techniques, C-arm for injecting various spinal, sacroiliac, hip and other major/ minor peripheral joints. 
• First Rheumatologist working in difficult area with scarce medical facilities at Srinagar  and producing unparalleled success even in unrelated field cardiology and respiratory medicine.  For example, no patient out of 50 seriously ill  cases of Myocardial infarction and 40 cases of High Altitude Pulmonary oedema died in my tenure in 92 Base Hospital. This immensely boosted the already existing image of that hospital, i.e, “” any injured/ ill soldier whoever is brought alive to the hospital goes also alive after treatment. For my services towards critically ill patients and for rheumatologically inflicted patients, President of India awarded me a National award, Vishishta seva medal on 26 Jan 2006.
• First Rheumatologist conversant with Gastroendoscopic procedures, I perfomed about 300 Upper & 100 Lower G I endoscopic procedures at 92 Base Hospital besides treating innumerable patients inflicted with Rheumatological disorders.  I am also carry uot Arthroscopic procedures for the diagnostic & therapeutic purposes.
• First rheumatologist interested in treating the chronic Rheumatologic patients with the concept of one window clearance for all patients presenting with musculoskeletal complaints. To fulfil this concept I got myself trained in various additional expertise enumerated above.
• Innovated various rheumatological interventional procedures & devised new techniques & equipments to improve the patients outcome, commended by Commandant for these efforts.
